Product description
Smokey Monkey is the smoky version of the well-known Blended Malt. It is particularly suitable for mixed drinks and is a successful blend of sweetness and peat smoke. The unique combination was created by bartenders for bartenders and is so popular that it is now available in over 25 countries. In addition to two Single Malts, smoky Single Malt Whisky from the Ailsa Bay Distillery, which is the leading distillery of William Grant & Sons and produces a wide range of Types, has been added to the Blended Malt. These include a heavily peated whisky variant. William Grant & Sons has not revealed which two other distilleries are included in this version of Monkey Shoulder, but it is almost certain that Glenfiddich is one of them. The name "Monkey Shoulder" comes from traditional whisky production. In the past, the malt was turned by hand, which often led to hanging arms and a hunched posture of the workers during long shifts - similar to the posture of a monkey. Today, the name is merely a reminder of these original "malt men" and their hard labour. The Single Malts were married for at least 3 years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks.

Aroma: Der Rauch ist ziemlich deutlich, aber nicht rauchig im Sinne von Islay-Rauch, sondern eher torfig; leicht würzig, und hinter dem Rauch eine leichte, nicht allzu helle, Frucht und eine leichte Vanillesüsse.

Geschmack: Ein dreckiger Torfrauch kommt auf die Zunge und begleitet wird es von einer richtig giftigen Zitrusnote; dann etwas Malz aufkommend.

Abgang: Im Abgang bleibt eine Würze und die Zitrusnote ziemlich lange haften.

Kommentar: Ein nicht allzu komplexer Einsteiger-Whisky und vermutlich sehr geeignet für tolle Cocktails.
