	Aroma	Gentle, light and unexpectedly mild, with unusual nutty-spicy top notes that together are reminiscent of an old-fashioned dairy where creamy cheese is being made. A slight hint of fruit is added through the addition of water.
	Taste	Smooth, creamy, full-bodied texture, overall sweet and rich. Fruity and nutty with a developing peppery warmth, slightly tannic and dry with an oaky flavour. Becomes creamier with the addition of a little water.
	Finish	Long and nutty with a pleasantly warming flavour.

The 11-year-old Caol Ila tells the story of whisky craftsmanship combined with a high degree of creativity in Diageo's annual special release series. The 'Spirited Xchange Second Edition' runs under the motto "what if", in which different flavours are presented through different and special cask compositions. The special releases guide tasters, whisky fans and single malt collectors through rare bottlings, rich flavour profiles and their own imagination. The Caol Ila whisky has been matured in refill casks and renewed ex-wine casks made from American and European oak. This rare and NOT smoky single malt flavour experience was bottled in natural cask strength. The elaborately designed outer packaging makes the limited special bottlings ideal as a collector's item or high-quality gift.

Aroma: eher weich für den hohen Alkoholgehalt, Fruchtnoten (herbe Birnen, etwas Pfirsich) und Walnuß. Ein Hauch von Honig.

Geschmack: würzig und cremig süß zugleich, ich denke doch im Hintergrund einen Hauch Rauch und etwas Leder wahrzunehmen. Die Süße am Gaumen eher karamellig. Kräftige pfeffrige Schärfe baut sich auf.

Abgang: würzige, leicht herb-tanninige Eichenholzoten, ein wenig Ingwerschärfe bleibt.

Mit Wasser sehr bedeckt in der Nase, cremig-fruchtiger am Gaumen, jetzt tatsächlich auch mit milchigem Karamell. Weniger Schärfe im Abgang.

Kommentar: hier stimmt Preis-Leistung sogar bei der Special Release Serie. Spannende Varriation der Brennerei.
