The Zacapa XO Rum is made from a combination of old reserve rums made from sugar cane honey. Hand-selected rums aged between 10 and 25 years that have been aged in the solera process are blended with older and younger rums as they mature in a series of casks that have previously held American whiskies, delicate sherries and fine Pedro Ximénez wines. The rum is then finished and refined in French oak barrels that previously held cognac. Ron Zacapa XO is best enjoyed neat or on ice.

Aroma: ein schönes Bouquet umstreift die Nase, sehr ausgewogen und intensiv. Kein einfacher Rum.
Geschmack: am Gaumen recht komplex mit vielen Facetten! erst leicht herb mit bitteren Noten von Schokolade und Datteln, dann süß werdend mit einem regelrechten Fruchtkompott, Pfirsich bleibt als letzter Akzent übrig.
Abgang: im Abgang süß und cremig, hingehend zu würzigen Noten von Nüssen und Mandeln.
Kommentar: kein günstiger Rum, aber Er ist den Preis definitiv wert!
