Rivière du Mât Arrangé Vanilla Rhum Spirits

Rivière du Mât Arrangé Vanille Rhum comes from the small island of La Rèunion. The base for the spirit is molasses rum, which is refined with fruits and spices from the region after distillation on column stills. The focus of this rum-based spirit is on macerated vanilla beans. The Rivière du Mât distillery, which has existed since 1886, was named after a legend in which a ship that had set out to explore the island off Madagascar ran aground in a riverbed on the island of La Rèunion. Only the mast still protruded from the river, making it known as the Rivière du Mât, the "river of the mast". The mast became the symbolic image of the distillery and resembles the column still that Rivière du Mât uses to distil its Rhum Traditionelle de la Réunion.
