For the 5-year-old Plantation Rum Barbados, the finest molasses is fermented for 3-4 days and distilled in twin column stills and pot stills. The tropical maturation of 3-4 years in former bourbon barrels and the continental maturation of 1-2 years in barrels previously filled with Ferrand cognac ensure a complex and bittersweet flavour profile in this molasses rum.
