The 15-year-old Malteco Reserva Maya Rum was distilled from fresh sugar cane juice on Colum stills and originated in Panama. The rum spent its maturation period in former Bourbon barrels. The logo of the Malteco rums is the Quetzal bird, whose feathers are over a metre long and who is considered the reincarnation of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl, who came ashore from the sea to teach the people.

Normalerweise muss man damit leben, dass Rum nicht an die vielfältigen Geschmacksnuancen eines guten Whisky herankommt, deshalb bin ich von diesem Malteco auch begeistert.
Zimt, getrocknete Früchte, "Weihnachten" (auch wenn dies vielleicht keine anerkannte Geschmackrichtung ist),leichte Eichennote im Abgang - einfach gut.
