	Taste	Velvety smooth and full-bodied, with sherry and tropical fruits. Oatmeal evolves into oak spices, coffee, dark chocolate orange, nectarines, plum compote, blackcurrant, redcurrant and sultanas.
	Finish	Hints of fruitcake and honey end with notes of dried fruit with a hint of salt and lingering in nuances of oak and more sherry, finishing with hazelnut and almond raspberry cake and dark chocolate.
	Maturation	Kentucky Bourbon casks, Virgin Oak casks, Spanish Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry barrels.

Product description

Macaloney's Caledonian Distillery was launched by three whisky-savvy Scots in Canada. Besides founder and fermentation expert Dr Graeme Macaloney, ex-Diageo Master Distiller Mike Nicolson and whisky expert Dr Jim Swan, who died in 2017, were also involved in the conception. Kildara is made from the best malted and unmalted barley and is triple distilled on Pot Stills. The distillate is then matured in Kentucky Bourbon casks, fresh American oak casks, Spanish Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks before the casks are blended together. This is how the expressive colour of the whisky and a fruity, sweet and spicy Single Malt was created.

Kommentar: ein erstaunlich komplexer Malt für sein wahrscheinlich vergleichweise sehr junges Alter. Die Sherryfässer und die Eiche kommen gut durch, jedoch eher leicht und frisch und nicht zu schwer. Super lecker, mit dem kann man sich durchaus mal einen Abend lang beschäftigen.

Geschmack: Samtig-weich und vollmundig, mit Sherry und tropischen Früchten. Haferflocken entwickeln sich zu Eichengewürzen, Kaffee, dunkler Schokoladenorange, Nektarinen, Pflaumenkompott, schwarzer Johannisbeere, roter Johannisbeere und Sultaninen.

Abgang: Anklänge von Obstkuchen und Honig enden mit Noten getrockneter Früchte mit einem Hauch von Salz und verweilenden Nuancen von Eiche und mehr Sherry, zum Ende Haselnuss- und Mandel-Himbeerkuchen und dunkle Schokolade.
