Horst Lüning chose the 15-year-old Glen Moray as one of the best whiskies of the year in 2017. The balanced character and the great price-performance ratio convinced the experienced whisky expert.

For Whisky.de, Glen Moray has now bottled the Single Malt without colouring and with a higher alcohol content than the standard bottle.

The Distillery: Glen Moray

The building in which Glen Moray is housed started out as the West Brewery, founded in 1828. In 1897, its owners, Robert Thorne & Sons, converted the site into a two-still Whisky distillery. read more

Comment: Very fruity on the nose with lots of autumn fruits such as apple and pear, I slight hint of red wine grape, lovely sweetness and a bit of sherry.
Nice lemon sourness on the palate, the fruitiness is very much still there, some mixed spices, a little bitter sherry oak into the finish.
Adding water brings the lemon out in the nose and accentuates the sweetness on the palate. I really nice example of an autumn-fruit Speyside.
