Caorunn Gin has been produced in small batches at the Balmenach distillery since 2009. The name comes from the Gaelic word for rowanberry, which, along with four other Celtic plants, is one of the main ingredients for this Gin.
The distillation process uses a copper berry chamber, which was developed in the 1920s in the USA. At that time, the extraction of essential oils was the sole purpose of this chamber. Now, during the distillation of the gin, the aromas of the plants are extracted through this process.
