This 10-year-old Islay Connection is a blended malt whisky from Bowmore and Bruichladdich. It is part of the Connection series from North Star Spirits, a producer known for its innovative small-batch blended malt whiskies that emphasise the individual characters of the Scottish regions. The Islay Connection owes its name to the idea of combining two distinctive Islay distilleries in a single whisky. A 10-year-old Bowmore from ex-bourbon casks meets a 13-year-old Bruichladdich from refill sherry hogsheads, resulting in a blend that impressively showcases the contrasting styles of the island. The Bowmore delivers its signature maritime smokiness, salty sea breeze and dark fruit notes, while the Bruichladdich contrasts with a fresh, fruit-driven profile. Together, the result is a whisky of remarkable depth, balanced structure and aromatic tension.
