The distillate for this special St. Kilian bottling for the German distillery's 10th anniversary is based on heavily peated barley malt from the Scottish Highlands, which has a phenol parts per million content of an intense 80 ppm. The smoky anniversary whisky was then matured in a former Tokaji Aszu cask made from Hungarian oak. Tokaji Aszu is a Hungarian dessert wine to which "noble rotten" botrytis grapes are added, which then macerate in the wine. This process creates the typical aroma of ripe fruit, sweet honey and caramel flavours and a hint of vanilla in the wine, which is ideal for pairing with a full-bodied dessert. The single cask made from Hungarian oak soaked up the beguiling facets for 6 years, giving the St. Kilian malt strong umami notes with fruity facets and creamy vanilla with toffee. The ashy smoke coats the long-lasting finish with creamy-sweet hints of light-coloured fruit with honey and vanilla at a massive 58.8% vol. Cask strength without the addition of colour and without chill-filtering.

Herstellerbeschreibungon 02.04.2026
