Oban Special Release Heart of the Harbour - Special Release 12 Years 2025

This Oban Single Malt from the distillery on the border between the Highlands and the Scottish islands was bottled by the Diageo spirits group for the 2025 Special Releases. Matured for 12 long years in ex-bourbon casks made from American oak, the Highlander is a warming whisky with fresh, spicy facets and showcases the distillery's mature house style with toffee, sea salt and citrus. The simple but elegant tube and the label, which is kept simple in contrast to the other rather colourful designs, set the scene perfectly for the whisky itself. The Oban was bottled at 54.7% vol. at cask strength. Since 2001, the spirits group has bottled an annual collection of limited-edition Single Malt Whiskies from its extensive distillery portfolio. The series includes Scotch whiskies that are rarely available on the market and have been matured experimentally or are considered to be of particularly high quality overall. Whisky fans and collectors are therefore equally addressed. The whiskies are released once a year at cask strength and are characterised by exceptional maturation and in some cases old vintages, although bottlings without an age statement are also available. For some years now, each edition has had an overarching theme, which is reflected in the artistically designed labels and packaging. Previous themes have included "Legends Untold", "Elusive Expressions", "Spirited Xchange" and "The Enigma of the Casks". The special releases offer connoisseurs the opportunity to discover unique flavour profiles and one-off cask ageings. The motto of the 2025 collection is Horizons Unbound.
