Langatun Cardeira Cask Matured is a bottling from the Cask Finish series of the Swiss Langatun distillery. The bottling matured for 6 years and 4 months entirely in former Cardeira red wine casks, which are known for their aromatic facets. The winemaker couple Erika and Tom Meier from Switzerland have been working with the Langatun distillery for several years and supplied this cask for the maturation of the single malt. The name Langatun is the Celtic term for Langenthal, which is the location of the distillery. With water from an unspoilt spring and selected raw materials, Langatun continues the distillery tradition founded by Jakob Baumberger in 1857. Langatun prides itself not on mass-produced goods, but on unique distillates produced by hand using the pot still method.

The Whisky distillery was founded in 2005, half a decade after the legal situation in Switzerland changed: only since 1999 it has been allowed to distil spirits from basic foodstuffs such as potatoes or grain.

Geschmack: Opulent und fruchtig mit Aromen von Birnengebäck, Kandiszucker und Wein. Dazu Facetten von eingelegten Sauerkirschen, Dörrfeigen und eine angenehme Holzbitterkeit.
Abgang: Langanhaltend, eher trocken, leicht erdig und tanninig mit Nuancen von Bitterschokolade und Sauerkirschen.
