The Deanston distillery

Deanston is located just on the border with the Scottish Lowlands and is therefore just part of the Southern Highlands.

Before whisky was distilled there, the site was used as a cotton mill. This was completely converted into a distillery in 1965.
Most of the workers lived on the site and so small shops for grocers were also built there so that the residents would want for almost nothing.
Today, all the buildings on the site belong to the distillery. They have been converted into warehouses or distillery buildings. Burn Stewart took over the distillery in 1990 and opened it to the public in 1991.
Since the takeover and reopening, Deanston has been producing whisky, Gin and vodka.
