Product description
The Peat Monster is a Blended Malt, which is blended from strong and medium smoky malts. Due to the maturation in American oak and a small part of French oak, the smoke moves somewhat into the background, which makes the whisky very balanced and 'enjoyable'. The malt is mainly made from refilled hogsheads from Caol Ila and also refill hogshead-matured Laphroaig. In addition, there is a small portion of Highlands malts that were allowed to mature in French oak.

    Geschmack: Überraschend zurückhaltender Rauch, gute Eiche, wirkt "reif".Peat Smoke Sweet Oak

    Abgang: Relativ kurz und wiederum in Sachen Rauch eher brav.Peat Smoke

    Kommentar: Ein guter, angenehmer Blended Malt der aber nicht an The Big Peat heranreicht, dafür ist das Peat Monster zu brav.
    Kann man trinken als Link zu den RICHTIG rauchigen Malts.

    Aroma: Der Torf steigt als erstes in die Nase. Danach kommen klassischen Islay Noten von Meer und Salz. Er scheint weicher als andere Islay-Whiskys wie z. B. der Ardbeg zu sein. Aber die medizinischen Noten kommen wie erwartet dazu. Es gibt schwache Hinweise von Früchten in der
    Nase.

    Geschmack: Ohne Zusatz von Wasser, kommt der Torf sofort direkt durch. Mit Zusatz von etwas Wasser kommen medizinische Notizen, die mit Anklängen von Süße und Früchten verknüpft sind dazu. Der Compass Box Peat Monster ist eher ein mittelkräftiger Whisky.

    Abgang: Mittellang und endet in Noten von Torf und Orange. Es ist kein sehr komplexer Whisky. Ganz sicher aber ein getorfter Islay Whisky, aber keineswegs ein Torf Monster.
