The Caol Ila Whisky Small Batch No. 12 Single Malt was released by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage in the Small Batch series. The whisky from the popular Islay distillery matured for 10 years in Oloroso sherry casks before being bottled without colouring or chill-filtering in 2023.

In der Nase zunächst noch etwas alkoholisch (liegt wahrscheinlich daran, dass die frisch geöffnete Flasche verkostet wurde), aromatischer Rauch, dezente rote Frucht und angenehme Süße.

Am Gaumen eine Wucht, geräucherter Speck, angenehmer Rauch, getragen von süßen Trockenfrüchten, ein Anklang von Feige, tolle Sherry Aromatik, Honig gepaart mit Malz.

Der lange Abgang fällt sehr voluminös und süß aus.

Ein wahrer Gaumenschmeichler, wirklich äußerst gut gelungen!!!

Kommentar: Ein einzigartiger Islay-Whisky vom unabhängigen Abfüller Signatory Vintage, mit einem süß-zimtigen Charakter. Da es sich um einen Caol Ila handelt, muss der Rauch nicht hervorgehoben werden. Insgesamt ist der Whisky sehr gut ausbalanciert, mit der Zimtnote als "Sahnehäubchen". Mich hat er so sehr überzeugt, dass ich zwei Flaschen nachgeordert habe, ehe diese besondere Abfüllung vergriffen ist.
