La distillerie: Wild Turkey
Situated in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, the Wild Turkey Distillery is an exceptional example for a Whiskey distillery that follows its own vision of how Bourbon has to be: characterful, very aromatic and last but not least full of power!
It hasn’t been very long that the distillery is called like the famous American bird. Before known as Ripy Distillery, it is now named after the brand that Austin, Nichols & Co developed. In 1940s Manager Thomas McCarthy, Manager of Austin Nichols, carried samples of his new Bourbon with him when he went to hunt wild turkeys with his friends. Soon they started to call it the “Wild Turkey” Whiskey and McCarthy decided to use this nick to be the brand name for his Bourbon Whiskey.

Kommentar: Der Rare Breed 101 ist bei mir immer am Start. Ein klassischer, high rye bourbon, der sehr vielseitig ist. In Cocktails wunderbar (Hunter ist hier mein Liebling), auf Eis super, aber man kann ihn auch einfach pur sippen. Geht alles zu einem super Preis. Und der Rare Breed ist praktisch der 101 einfach noch einmal eine Stufe besser. Alles ist nochmal intensiver. Ein wirklich guter Whisky. Das einzige, was man ihm vorhalten kann, ist, dass der 101 FAST so gut ist, aber weniger kostet. Aber das ist meckern auf wirklich hohem Niveau...

Finish: Strong and long
Comment: Miles above the regular rare breed. So much deeper and complex due to not being chill filtered. To me, there is no comparison. Always NCF. My only comment is that it could be even a bit more complex.. But maybe this will come if they decide to release another batch of this. And also, for Americans its really not cool that it's only available everywhere else hahah.
