Regional barley was used for the Glenmorangie Signet Reserve Single Malt. The barley malt was heavily roasted to create the so-called 'high roasted chocolate malt'. The whisky contains very old distillates, some of which come from casks at the distillery that have been stored for up to 40 years. The youngest components are at least 12 years old. The Glenmorangie Signet Reserve was finished in Pedro Ximénez casks. The whisky impresses with its depth and complexity, which are accompanied by coffee notes and subtle accents of chocolate.

La distillerie: Glenmorangie
The stretch of land in the Northern Highland on which Glenmorangie stands has been the site for alcohol production (mostly illicit) since the Middle Ages, setting a formidable legacy. Glenmorangie was founded in 1843, although operation didn’t start until 1849.

Aroma: Tief und kraftvoll mit Noten von dunkler Schokolade, dazu intensive Akzente von Espressokaffee. Nach und nach kommen Anklänge von Haselnusscreme und Orangenschale hinzu.
Geschmack: Packende Textur mit Facetten von Schokoladentrüffeln, Karamell und Kuchen. Es folgen Aromen von Kaffee und gerösteten Kaffeebohnen.
Abgang: Lang und komplex mit einer Kombination von Kaffee und Schokolade.

Kommentar: Angesichts des Preises war die Erwartung recht hoch - ganz erfüllen konnte diese Abfüllung die Erwartungen dann nicht. So viel besser wie der normale Signet ist er nicht, natürlich etwas komplexer und eichentöniger - aber Früchte, Sherry, Schokolade sind ähnlich.
