With the Glenmorangie Calvados - Barrel Select, Dr Bill Lumsden presents a new creation. The whisky was matured for the first time in rare Calvados sherry casks and is the fifth bottling in the Barrel Select series. With a maturation period of 12 years, this experimental bottling represents the delicate Glenmorangie style. The rare Calvados casks aroused particular interest from Dr Lumsden to see how the elegant pome fruit notes combine with the fruity style of the Highland distillery's single malt whisky. Initially, the whisky is matured for 10 years in ex-bourbon casks and matures for a further two years in casks that previously contained Calvados du Pays d'Auge for 20 years. The result is a successful addition to the Barrel Select range, revealing fruity-floral flavours and subtle vanilla notes and adding a new, subtle depth to Glenmorangie's well-known fruit character. The Limited Edition is a tribute to the art of cask maturation.

The stretch of land in the Northern Highland on which Glenmorangie stands has been the site for alcohol production (mostly illicit) since the Middle Ages, setting a formidable legacy. Glenmorangie was founded in 1843, although operation didn’t start until 1849.

Aroma: Noten von Bratäpfeln, Birnen, Vanille, Mandeln und einer leichten Wachsnote. Gibt man etwas Wasser hinzu, erscheinen duftende, florale Noten von Narzisse, Jasmin und Heidehonig, danach Aromen von süßem Gebäck.
Geschmack: Ölig und würzig zugleich, mündet in eine Fülle süßer Aromen. Noten gebackener Birnen, kandierter Äpfel, Mandelmarzipan, Sternanis und Praliné finden zusammen mit etwas Zitronenmelisse, Eukalyptus und einem Hauch Holzkohle.
Abgang: Lang, anhaltend und ganz leicht kühlend.
