Woodford Reserve Double Oaked was matured in two different oak casks. After the first barrel maturation in the specially handcrafted white oak barrels, it matures in another barrel that has been toasted longer but burnt out for a shorter time.
Woodford is the only American distillery that triple-distils its whiskey in traditional Pot Still stills.

Woodford Reserve is a very unique Bourbon distillery at Versailles, Kentucky, different from others. In contrast to common Bourbon distilleries that work with continuous stills they have three pot stills here to create a triple distilled aromatic Whiskey. Among the Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky Woodford Reserve is the smallest one.     Aroma: Viel Karamell, mit (viel) Zimt, Kakaopulver, Vanille-Sahne-Gries, Nuss-Nougatcreme, Apfelkuchenringe (frittiert) und in Zucker gerollt, Marzipan, Schokosoße für Desserts.

    Geschmack: Voll, schokoladig und enorm harmonisch: Flüssige Schokolade, Honig, Smarties, glasierte Früchte und wieder Zimt.

    Abgang: Mittel. Zum Schluss ein Geschmacksfeuerwerk mit Schokolade, Vanille und glasierten Früchten.

    Kommentar: Der beste Whisky ihres Standardsortiments. Die Anderen (Bourbon, Malt, Rye, Wheat) sind auch Klasse, aber der Double Oaked stellt nun mal die Spitze dar. Übertroffen wird das ganze jedoch von den MC-Abfüllungen und natürlich von dem Whisky schlechthin: Woodford Reserve Baccarat Edition! Einfach unbeschreiblich dieser Whisky.
