Product description
Tomatin Cù Bòcan is an experimental whisky from the Highland distillery Tomatin, made from slightly smoky barley malt and distilled in limited batches each winter. Cù Bòcan means 'ghost dog' in Gaelic. Legend has it that the inhabitants of the Tomatin area were haunted by a ghost dog, which dissolved into blue smoke and disappeared over the moors of the Highlands. Each bottling of Cù Bòcan is matured in different cask combinations to bring out the unusual Taste in the Single Malt. The fifth creation is the first Single Malt to be matured in casks made from Colombian Andean oak. The rare casks give the whisky its Taste facets of camphor, roasted cloves and eucalyptus.

Tomatin has been a rising star among the Scottish distilleries since the beginning of the millennium. The Highland distillery was the biggest Scottish distillery in the 1970, but the quality of the Whisky wasn’t high regarded. Kräuter und Gewürze wechseln sich schön ab. Rauch nehme ich keinen wahr.

Geschmack: Clove Peat Smoke Spices
Gewürze machen sich auf der Zunge breit, allen voran Nelke. Auch ein Hauch Lagerfeuer entfaltet sich.

Abgang: Spices Fruit
Eine leicht pfeffrige Schärfe breitet sich aus, die sich allerdings nicht lange hält und an die Früchte übergibt.

Kommentar: Ein guter Whisky mit tollen Aromen, gefährlich, macht Lust auf mehr.

Aroma: weing Rauch (ein wenig scharf und kräuterig), eine Joghurt(!)-Süße, "Monte", dahinter Banane, Birne und Zitrus dahinter, Vanille; später ein wenig Holz, auch ein wenig Kokosnuss, fast Pfeifentabak

Geschmack: im Geschmack der Rauch, dann Joghurt-Kakao-Eiche, komplex: Süße, Rauch, Würze, Zitrustöne

Abgang: moreish, cremig, Vanille, ausgewogen, nicht zu viel Rauch, Holz, bisschen Asche; mittellang

Kommentar: zum Trinken! echt gut nach Joghurt, Süße, wenig Rauch, Joghurt-Note ist witzig, schon echt ne gute Expression; stark gemacht
