Product description
Founded in 1885, the Orkney distillery Scapa was closed for many years. In 2004, the whisky distillery was renovated at a cost of several million pounds and malt whisky has been continuously produced there again since 2005. The Signature Series consists of three bottlings that shine in a modern and fresh design with a maritime colour scheme. The bottles are also more reminiscent of decanters than typically shaped bottles. The 10-year-old Scapa has been matured in American white oak casks and reflects the untamed beauty of the Scottish coast in terms of flavour.

Finish:
On the nose: Lots of fresh fruit, papaya and pineapple stand out, there's also dried tropical fruits too, a really aromatic, good-quality dark chocolate note, some subtle smoke and a herbal note and a subtle spice note. With water the smoke, herbs and spices come out a little more.
On the Palate: More fruit! Sweetness, a bit of oak wood, some subtle sage. With water the sweetness becomes a little more intense with a slight sweetener note
Finish is surprisingly long for a 10yo whisky, there's the typical oak wood but that dark chocolate note comes back lingers very pleasantly.
This is the first time I've tried Scapa (the old bottlings never appealed to me) and I'm very impressed, been enjoying this a lot! Reminds me a bit of Oban 14.
