Product description
The Laphroaig Quarter Cask is a characteristic whisky from the Isle of Islay, whose origins and production are closely linked to the traditional Laphroaig distillery. Since 1815, the distillery has stood for a particularly intense form of peaty style, which is characterised by its own maltings, the drying of the barley over a strong peat fire and storage directly on the rugged Atlantic coast. The quarter cask is first matured in American oak and then receives an additional maturation phase in smaller quarter casks, which allow the whisky to come into closer contact with the wood. This cask size encourages greater interaction between the distillate and the oak staves, resulting in a pronounced structure and additional depth. With an alcohol strength of 48% vol., the whisky is bottled at a strength that carries its flavours clearly and unadulterated. The flavour is powerful with typical smoke and a combination of sweet vanilla notes, fine spice and the maritime minerality for which Laphroaig is known. The Islay whisky thus embodies both the traditional character of the distillery and the special influences of the quarter casks.     Abgang: ein sehr sehr langer rauchiger aber angenehmer Abgang

    Kommentar: Bin normalerweise kein großer Freund von rauchigen Whiskys. Der 10 er war meiner Meinung nach um einiges kräftiger. Dieser ist etwas weicher.
