Product description

Product description
With the 11-year-old Lagavulin, the legendary Islay distillery has created a Single Malt that has been matured throughout in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks made from American oak. Master Blend Dr Stuart Morrison focused on the combination of sweetness and smoke, which are actually considered opposites. An elegant sweetness shimmers through the wonderfully dense peat smoke and marries with hints of salted caramel and toffee apples. The main difference to the successful Lagavulin 16 and Lagavulin 8 year old whiskies is the 100% bourbon cask maturation of the 11 year old Lagavulin on the one hand and the Sweet Peat on the other, with more malty notes and charming undertones of sweetness and oak. In this case, opposites attract. The Islay whisky was bottled at 43% vol.

The Distillery: Lagavulin

The Scottish Malt Whisky distillery Lagavulin is located on the south side of the island of Islay, between the Laphroaig and Ardbeg distilleries. Lagavulin, pronounced Lagga-voulin, comes from Gaelic and roughly means “hollow by the mill”. Founded in 1816 by John Johnston, the Lagavulin distillery is owned by the Diageo group and its whiskies are part of its Classic Malts Selection. read more
