Knockando Master Reserve is the oldest regularly available vintage bottling of the Speyside distillery. Special casks with smaller runs are used for this. The 21 years of maturation result in an exceptionally deep and smooth Single Malt.

The distillery was founded in 1898 by John Thompson, and administered by the Knockando-Glenlivet Distillery Company. The acclaimed Whisky architect Charles Doig designed the site. The name of the distillery comes from the Gaelic 'Cnoc-an-dhu', meaning 'little black hill', quite probably an homage to the hills in-between which the site is located. read more

Diesen Whisky habe ich einer Freundin geschenkt und durfte natürlich auch probieren. Normal genieße ich eher Destillate von Islay. Daher fällt der Knockando nicht in mein persönliches Beuteschema. Für ungeübte Whisky-Trinker ist er wohl etwas zu herb. Kenner würden den Geschmack eher als komplex und reich beschreiben. Er ist sehr fruchtig und brennt/pfeffert etwas. Im Abklang ist er recht mild und wieder fruchtig. Ich empfinde noch eine leichte Schokonote. Insgesamt ist dieser Whisky durchaus empfehlenswert.

Kommentar: nicht wirklich komplex, eher einfach und süffig, wenig Fruchtnoten, dafür Karamell, Nüsse und Eiche recht kräftig.. für den Preis gibt es viele deutlich bessere Whiskys, ist aber trotzdem kein schlechter
