This Jura was first aged for 18 years in American white oak bourbon barrels. It then matured in red wine barrels from the Premier Cru in Bordeaux. In 2018, the standard Jura range was completely refocused.

    Taste: Sweet Caramel Oak Herb Spices

    Finish: Dark Chocolate Coffee Lemon

    On the nose: Rich red fruit, confectionery, strawberry jam, bitter almond and cherry rum compote. With water the alcohol note comes out more with prunes (dried plums) and a little lemon in the background.
    On the palate: Sweet caramel, cough syrup, oak wood bitterness, finishing in dark chocolate and dark roasted coffee. With water it's a tad drier, still very nice, some spice notes come out and the there's a little lemon on the finish now.

    Overall a really nice whisky, if it was 46+%, non chill-filtered & natural colour it would get another half a star.
