The Glenfarclas 105 with 12 years age statement appears for the first time with an official age statement. The legendary 105 Cask Strength, originally released in 1968 as the world's first commercial cask strength whisky, is known for its powerful, full-bodied character, intense sherry flavour and natural 60% alcohol volume. Glenfarclas, a family-run Scottish distillery with a long tradition of sherry cask maturation, is presenting this edition exclusively for the German market as part of The Hourglass Limited Edition. For this release, the whisky has been matured for 12 years in carefully selected Oloroso sherry casks, resulting in exceptional depth, complex sherry sweetness and warming spice. The striking golden hourglass design on the outer packaging is derived from the golden numerals and emphasises the distillery's masterful cask selection and the enduring heritage of its traditional Dunnage Warehouses.

The Distillery: Glenfarclas
The Glenfarclas distillery was founded in 1836 by Robert Hay and is one of the best-known and most successful family-run distilleries in Scotland. The owner family Grant is proud of its private status, which is reflected in the distillery's slogan ‘The Spirit of Independence’. Since 1865, the fifth generation of the Grant family has been shaping the history of the Glenfarclas distillery. This long family tradition guarantees consistent quality and the necessary foresight for a long-lasting product such as Whisky. Hardly any other distillery has so many high-quality and old Whiskies in its warehouses. Glenfarclas is located in beautiful Speyside and has been run by John Grant since 2002.

Aroma: Sherry, Toffee und etwas Orangenschale – dicht, süß und würzig zugleich.
Geschmack: Kräftig und warm, mit Rosinen, Nüssen, Eiche und einer Spur Karamell. Trotz Fassstärke angenehm rund.
Abgang: Lang, süß-würzig mit Sherry und dunkler Schokolade.
Kommentar: Ein typischer Glenfarclas in Bestform – reich, vollmundig und ehrlicher Speyside-Charme. Die 60 % haben Wumms, bleiben aber zivilisiert.
Geschmack: Kräftig und warm, mit Rosinen, Nüssen, Eiche und einer Spur Karamell. Trotz Fassstärke angenehm rund.

Kommentar: Ein weiterer 60%iger Glenfarclas, der ganz sicher nicht zu verdünnen ist. Wie immer ist der Alkohol in einem Geschmackserlebnis unauffällig gebunden, bis er den Hals herunter rinnt. Ein Vergleichstasting mit dem 105 und dem Heritage (Cak Strength) ist eine Freude für jeden, der eine Fassstärke zu schätzen weiß.
