Product description
Flor de Caña Rum comes from Nicaragua and is the only rum brand in the world that is authorised to call itself 'slow aged'. With this certification, the US government authority ensures that the maturation process is natural and not accelerated in oak barrels. The rum is produced directly at the San Antonio sugar factory at the foot of an active volcano, which belongs to the "Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua" founded in 1890 and which has been producing rum for 135 years. The Flor de Caña 12 Centenario rum is matured for 12 years in selected oak barrels. The rum is balanced and full-bodied with notes of vanilla and oak, which blend with subtle fruit flavours and spice. No added sugar and no artificial flavourings from the field to the bottle. Since 2005, the producer has also been committed to the reforestation of the rainforest and has planted over 1 million new trees in partnership with the "One Tree Planted" organisation.

The Italian Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa founded the Flor de Caña Rum distillery in 1890 at the foot of the San Cristobál volcano in Nicaragua. The distillery is still family-owned and is now run by the fifth generation. read more
