Product description
With its distinctive, waxy character, Clynelish is considered one of the most iconic Highland distilleries - a favourite among connoisseurs and Blends alike. This Clynelish whisky malt was bottled by Signatory Vintage. Signatory is one of Scotland's most renowned independent bottlers, founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington. With over 10,000 casks in the warehouses of Pitlochry, Symington has access to some of the rarest and oldest whiskies around. After 10 years in refill oloroso sherry and new wood hogsheads, the single malt was bottled at 57.1% vol. as #77 for the 100 Proof series. In the 100 Proof series, all whiskies are bottled at 100 proof, which corresponds to 57.1% vol. The "proof" system was first introduced in Great Britain to determine whether a spirit was high enough in proof to be taxed and to ensure that gunpowder on ships could still be ignited in rough seas. A mixture of spirits and gunpowder had to be able to ignite. Today, this measure is rarely used but has been taken up again by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage for the 100 Proof Edition. Unadulterated quality, pure enjoyment and intense volume percentages at fair prices.

The Distillery: Clynelish
The new Clynelish Distillery on the east coast of Scotland was only established in 1967. It is located on the same premises as the original "Old Clynelish Distillery", which in turn had been mothballed and was reopened for a short period of time under the name of "Brora".
