The Ardnahoe Pedro Ximenez Quarter Cask Single Malt Whisky from Ardnahoe stands out from the typical sherry cask matured whiskies, just like its sibling, because it was matured in a Pedro Ximenez Sherry Quarter Cask.It has been matured in a Pedro Ximenez Sherry Quarter Cask and is one of only two bottlings in the new Càraid Ìleach range created exclusively for the German market. Càraid Ìleach (pronounced Car-ich Ee-luch) is Scottish Gaelic and means "the Islay pair". The Islay whisky is a real rarity, as quarter cask maturations are very rarely presented in the whisky industry. The special type of maturation creates a refined sweetness and a rich flavour profile characterised by dark fruits and peat smoke. The first full cask maturation in 100% Pedro Ximenez Quarter Casks from the Islay distillery Ardnahoe brings together the characteristics of peat smoke and the fine, sweet fruitiness of the PX casks. Quarter casks are only a fraction of the size of conventional casks, which means that the distillate has even more contact with the wood and therefore matures even more intensively. The Single Malt was bottled with Ardnahoe's preferred alcohol content of 50.0% vol. without artificial colouring or chill-filtration as a limited edition.

The Distillery:
The Ardnahoe Distillery was founded on Islay in 2018 by Stewart Laing and his sons Andrew and Scott. The family behind the independent bottler Hunter Laing & Co. has thus fulfilled its long-cherished dream of owning its own distillery. The name Ardnahoe comes from the Scottish Gaelic and means "height of the hollow".

Sehr leckere Süße, PX-Noten, Trockenfrüchte, Rauch im Aroma eher dezent und im Hintergrund. Aroma macht Laune auf mehr...
Geschmack:
Beim Antritt sofort Rauch auf der Zunge, aber nicht erschlagend. Geht über in süße Noten, PX, leicht zimtig, sehr angenehmes Mundgefühl. Alkohol mit 50% gut eingebunden, trotz fehlender Altersangabe und relativ jungem Whisky kein alkoholisches Beißen, weder im Geruch noch im Geschmack.
Abgang:
Mittellang bis lang, wieder PX-Süße, am Ende nochmal trockener Rauch. Beim Riechen am leeren Glas frisches Holz.
Kommentar:
Leckerer, gelungener Whisky. Gefällt mir im Vergleich zu seinem Bruder (Oloroso) noch etwas besser, kommt aber nicht ganz an die Society Abfüllung aus 2024 ran. Der Preis für einen NAS Whisky ist schon ordentlich...das muss jeder für sich entscheiden. Die Brennerei macht vieles richtig, bin gespannt auf zukünftige Ab -

Auch wenn ich ardnahoe fan bin, dieser hier kann nicht überzeugen, zu eindimensional, langweilig, wenig sherry, px ja aber einfach enttäuschend und dann der Preis - lächerlich. 50€ würde ich für diesen nicht ausgeben. Die skerryvore Abfüllung ist um Meilen besser, komplexer, süßer, mehr sherry, mehr Rauch, fruchtiger, nussiger und sein Geld wert. Dieser NICHT! -

Kommentar: Dieses Zwillingspaar stellt für Sherryliebhaber die Krönung aller bisher erschienenen Whiskies der Brennerei dar. Absolut empfehlenswert.
