Product description
The Ardbeg distillery is known to be frequently exposed to fierce winds, pouring rain and eerily dense fog. However, these conditions would be far more extreme were it not for the Mull of Oa, the peninsula in the south of Islay that protects the distillery from the harshest storms and the turbulent Atlantic. This large, sweeping headland is the inspiration for the Ardbeg An Oa Single Malt. After maturing in ex-Pedro Ximénez casks, new oak casks and ex-bourbon casks, the whisky is brought together in a vatting (Gathering Vat), where the ingredients combine excellently to produce a smoky, sweet whisky. The Islay malt, which could hardly be more typical of Ardbeg, is primarily suitable for connoisseurs and fans of smoky whiskies, but the special outer packaging also makes it an ideal collector's item or valuable gift. In addition to the previous Warehouse Editions Ardbeg 10 and Ardbeg Wee Beastie, the An Oa is now also available in a special edition, which comes in a metallic outer packaging dedicated to the characteristic and historic Ardbeg warehouses.

The Distillery: Ardbeg
The Ardbeg distillery was officially founded in 1815 by John McDougall. But Whisky was distilled long before that. There are no documentations, as Ardbeg was an illegal business back in 1794.

Mehr Süße als andere Ardbegs und gut eingebundener, zugänglicher Rauch. Im Vergleich zu seinen Geschwisten aber dafür auch etwas "schwächer auf der Brust." Guter Einsteiger in die Ardbeg-Welt. -
