Aroma Gentle sherry sweetness merges with figs and sultanas. In the background accents of vanilla and oak.
Taste Strong notes of chocolate and dark fruits, followed by facets of caramel and vanilla, followed by gentle hints of nutmeg and oak smoke.
Finish Long lasting and silky, with tannins and a pleasant sweetness with dried fruits and caramel.

This 10-year-old Wolfburn whisky marks a significant milestone in the distillery's history: it is the first ever age statement from the Scottish Highland distillery and it comes just in time for the distillery's 10th anniversary. The Single Malt matures for a full decade in hand-selected second-fill Oloroso sherry casks, which give it its sweet and luscious flavour components.

Wolfburn
Wolfburn is the northernmost distillery on the Scottish mainland. It was originally built in 1821 but had to close again in the course of the 19th century and today only ruins of the old complex remain. In 2011, a new distillery was built not far from the ruins and in the meantime the production volume has returned to the same level as in the 19th century. The logo features a wolf, whose related mythical creature, the so-called 'sea wolf', is said to bring good luck to all those who set eyes on it. In the 16th century, when the drawing for the Wolfburn logo was made, there were plenty of wolves in the area. read more

Aroma: Saubere Eiche ohne Bittertöne, hintergründig Fruchtsüße.

Geschmack: Erst weich, dann Alkohol, zuletzt Nüsse, gutes Holz, vom Sherry nur wenig, weil der Alkohol zunächst übertönt. Ein Whiskyfreund schrieb hier etwas von süßlichem Pfeifentabak. Das ist in der Tat eine treffende Assoziation.

Abgang: Trocken, mittellang, leichte Süße, Eiche.

Kommentar: Mit etwas Luft kommt das Oloroso Fass deutlicher durch. Daher 3,9 Punkte von mir.
