Beschrijving van het product

The Waterford Heritage: Goldthorpe 1.1 is the successor to the Heritage: Hunter 1.1 whisky and was bred from a lost variety of barley from Donoughmore that was rediscovered by Dr Hunter. In collaboration with the Irish Department of Agriculture, the heritage grain was painstakingly and expensively re-grown from a single packet of seed over several years with Waterford's maltings until the yield was sufficient for distilling. For the maturation of Heritage: Goldthorpe 1.1, 40% first fill American oak casks are used, with 24% Virgin Oak Casks, 18% Premium French Casks and Waterford's signature Vin Doux Naturel Casks at 18%. The last barrels used were filled with Moscatel and port wine.

De Distilleerderij: Waterford

The Waterford Distillery was created in 2015 by converting a former Guinness Brewery in Waterford, in the very south of Ireland. The distillery's founder Mark Reynier was formerly the mastermind behind the rebuilding of Islay Distillery Bruichladdich. Aroma: Süße Obstgartenfrüchte, Äpfel und Birnen, cremig, leichte Schärfe, rote Beeren, Honig, Scheunenaromen wie Heustaub, Nelken, Rosinen.

Geschmack: Grüne Gewächse, kräftige Noten von Müsliriegel, Beerenkompott, roter Apfel, grüner Tee, Paprika, Melone, Bratensoße, Pflaumen.

Abgang: Eine anhaltende trockene Süße hinterlässt eine delikate, andauernde Note von Trockenfrüchten und einen Hauch von Gewürzen.
