The Slipknot No 9 Iowa Anniversary Whiskey was developed in collaboration between the Iowa-based distillery Cedar Ridge and the nu metal band Slipknot. The band's founder Shawn 'Clown' Crahan was also born and raised in Iowa. The full-bodied Bourbon was matured in new, charred American oak barrels and marks Slipknot's 20th anniversary as a band.

The Cedar Ridge Distillery in Iowa was founded in 2005 by Jeff Quint. This was a logical consequence, as the family was already growing corn on their own farm in Iowa. The family's own Whiskey was launched on the market in 2010. In addition to Cedar Ridge Whiskey, the distillery also produces Whiskey in co-operation with, for example, the nu-metal band Slipknot.
