Aroma Intense and complex with strong peat smoke notes, accompanied by sweet sherry flavours. Ripe vanilla and oak flavours. This is followed by subtle hints of spices, citrus fruits and sea salt, which round off the bouquet.
Proef Full-bodied and multi-layered with moist peat smoke, sweet fruitiness and spicy nuances. Facets of dark chocolate, dried fruit and a fine woody note are added and stand out clearly.

The Port Charlotte 18 year old from Bruichladdich is an exclusive Single Malt Whisky from the island of Islay that will delight lovers of intensely peated whiskies. The limited edition Port Charlotte Single Malt was distilled in 2005 from 100% Scottish barley and impresses with its strong smoke content of 40 ppm, which is typical of Bruichladdich's Port Charlotte series. The 18-year cask maturation is made up of a complex interplay of different casks. These include 53% first-fill bourbon casks, 31% sherry casks and 16% were initially matured for 11 years in sherry casks before being finished for around five years in new French oak casks and finally transferred to second-fill bourbon casks. This careful and elaborate combination of maturation and finish gave it its unmistakable character and exceptional complexity. The Islay whisky was bottled at 51.5% vol. alcohol content and without chill filtration. It stands for the highest quality and pure enjoyment. This Port Charlotte bottling is a must-have for all whisky fans who appreciate a full-bodied, peaty Bruichladdich single malt.

    Aroma: Intensiv und komplex mit kräftigen Torfrauch-Noten, begleitet von süßen Sherryaromen. Dazu reife Vanille und Aromen von Eiche. Im Anshcluss folgen dezente Anklänge von Gewürzen, Zitrusfrüchten und Meersalz, die das Bouquet abrunden.

    Geschmack: Vollmundig und vielschichtig mit feuchtem Torfrauch, süßer Fruchtigkeit und würzigen Nuancen. Facetten von dunkler Schokolade, getrockneten Früchten und eine feine Holznote kommen hinzu und treten deutlich hervor.

    Abgang: Langanhaltend, angenehm trocken und wärmend mit nachhaltigem Rauch, feinen Gewürzen und einem Hauch von salziger Meeresluft. Augewogene Anklänge zwischen Süße und Rauch, elegantes Finish.
