The Highland distillery Nc'nean is committed to ecological quality and sustainability. The new and slightly modified cask combination was also used here. STR red wine casks were used for 55%, 43% matured in bourbon casks and 2% in Oloroso sherry casks. The malt is not only made from organic barley, produced using 100% renewable energy. Organic is also bottled in bottles made from recycled glass.

The Nc'nean distillery on the Morvern Peninsula, which opened in March 2017, describes itself as Scotland's first organic Whisky distillery. The name is an abbreviation of Neachneohain, a ghost queen from Gaelic legends, and is pronounced 'Nook-knee-anne'.

Aroma: Süßliche und helle Fruchtigkeit, fast wie ein Pfirsischlikör. Dazu ein wenig staubig-trockener Puderzucker. Florale Noten und einen Hauch von Zitrus finde ich ebenfalls. Und alles sehr angenehm verbunden.
Geschmack: Süß und fruchtig, die Trauben sind wieder da. Auch ein Gewürzeinschlag ist nun vorhanden.
Abgang: Süßlicher Sherry Abgang mit Gewürzen und Nussigkeit, bevor das Ganze in eine herbe Richtung dreht und Eiche den Mundraum auskleidet.
Kommentar: insgesamt gesehen überraschend komplex und interessant für so einen jungen Malt. Eine tolle Fruchtigkeit und eine angenehme Süße halten sich die Waage. Mit etwas Wasser zwar noch nen Tick frischer und fruchtiger, aber da sollte man vorsichtig sein. Bin alles in allem positiv überrascht.
