De Distilleerderij: Lagavulin

The Scottish Malt Whisky distillery Lagavulin is located on the south side of the island of Islay, between the Laphroaig and Ardbeg distilleries. Lagavulin, pronounced Lagga-voulin, comes from Gaelic and roughly means “hollow by the mill”. Founded in 1816 by John Johnston, the Lagavulin distillery is owned by the Diageo group and its whiskies are part of its Classic Malts Selection. lees meer

Aroma: sehr viel Rauch, medizinisch, Salz

Geschmack: ölig, Rauch, Salz, Torf, Jod, sehr kräftig

Abgang: sehr lang mit sehr deutlicher Rauchnote

Kommentar: mit etwas Wasser noch mehr Rauch, Jod, ein absoluter Spitzenwhisky

Aroma: Karamell, Creme Brulee und getrocknete Feigen. Es folgen Bienenwachs, Eichenholz und eine feine Zitrusnote. Die anfängliche Milde weicht mehr und mehr maritimen Noten wie Jod, Torfrauch und medizinischen Noten.
Geschmack: Volles, öliges Mundgefühl. Ein Machtkampf von süßen und maritimen Aromen. Torfrauch, Ingwer und Früchte.
Abgang: Lang und rauchig mit einer pfeffrigen Würze.
