Aroma Intense with heather, sultanas, pears and orange peel. Stone fruits in combination with mixed spices and rich peat smoke.
Proef Ripe plums, red cherries and a hint of citrus, followed by intense peat smoke, caramel sweets, oak and dark chocolate.
Uitgang Mouth-filling and fruity with caramel, cinnamon and clove. Plus brown sugar, spices, peat smoke and a lingering sweetness.

Kilchoman Sanaig is named after the bay of Sanaigmore on the island of Islay. Originally, the first, limited bottling of Sanaig consisted of 30% bourbon casks and 70% Oloroso sherry casks. This made the Islay whisky a rich and fruity flavour experience, with a beautiful balance between smoky and subtle caramel notes.

Kommentar: Der Rauch steigt bei mir schon primär in die Nase und riecht schon relativ medizinisch und weniger wie Lagerfeuer oder ähnliches. Zudem nehme ich eine gewisse Fruchtigkeit und Süße der Früchte in der Nase wahr. Kann aber nichts genaues herausriechen. Geschmacklich ist der Whisky angenehm im Mund und brennt kaum. Der Rauch wird auch etwas dezenter und gibt einen Geschmack von Früchten und dunkler Schokolade. Im Abgang ziehen sich die herben Noten zurück und es bleibt ein angenehmer Rauchgeschmack, der mich in positiver Weise an geräucherten Schinken erinnert. Entfernt schmeckt man etwas Eiche oder holziges. Hinterlässt ein durchaus trockenes Mundgefühl.
